Songbird & Twig Ornaments at The Mercantile

Posted on November 18, 2010 By jestroff (Edit) Leave a Comment

Thanksgiving is a week from today and that means it is time to break out the Christmas decorations (if you haven’t already done so). We love this time of year and are looking forward to getting the store all ready for the holidays. Our ornament collections are currently on display so make sure you stop by The Mercantile in Brookhaven and pick up some new memories for your Christmas Tree.

One of our favorite ornaments is from Robin Ferrill of Songbird & Twig. Robin’s passion for ornaments began when she decorated her daughter’s Christmas tree in her nursery with Beatrix Potter ornaments. She wanted to create something that others would like to collect and pass down through the generations so she created Songbird & Twig.

What makes Robin’s ornaments so special is that they are community driven. Her ornaments are of churches and historical buildings in and around the Atlanta area. Each ornament is designed and hand crafted by Robin in her Smyrna, Georgia home.

Robin writes that “Churches are a central part of life in our communities with historical, social and artistic significance.” And her beautiful hand made ornaments, which showcases their architectural design, is truly a work of art.
